FOR MAYOR OF KITCHENER

Election Day: OCT 26 2026

Make YKF Kitchener's Gateway to the World

Waterloo Region International Airport is one of our greatest economic assets. We should stop thinking of YKF simply as a place to catch a flight and start treating it as an engine for jobs, investment, tourism and international trade.

I will work with the Region, airlines, businesses, universities and governments to promote YKF across Canada and around the world, attract new routes and airlines, develop the aerospace sector, and connect the airport better to Kitchener.

When we bring more people, businesses and investment through YKF, we bring more economic opportunity to Kitchener.

This is particularly compelling because YKF already has momentum: the airport's 2024 passenger count reached 523,210, and the airport's expanded facilities can accommodate up to approximately one million passengers annually with only minor additional operating costs.
